Is quality content the key to sales?

Quality website content is a combination of high-resolution images, videos and informative texts written in a language the user understands.

What quality content means

Have you ever wondered what sales of products or services on a website depend on? You will probably answer and list the criteria: a beautiful and convenient design, high site speed, attractive headlines and images, lots of useful information. All of this certainly influences the user's decision to buy or not. But what about quality content? Even though this phrase is thoroughly overused, few people know what it actually includes, so we decided to break it down in this article. No trendy design or flashy headlines will save a website filled with low-quality pictures and empty texts.

So, quality website content is a combination of high-resolution images, videos and informative texts written in a language the user understands. It is important to gather all the necessary material before the website development starts: when creating the design, the specialist must clearly understand the volume of texts and which images they can build the interface around. If a business owner or their employees cannot write selling copy, it is easier to turn to a copywriter. In such cases it is important to be able to assess the quality of the delivered content yourself. We prepared a 10-point quality content checklist for our clients, and now we are sharing it with every reader. Before you start preparing the material or briefing a copywriter, go through this list - and only then dive into the process.

 Texts

  1. Look at your product or service from the user's perspective: why does the client need it and what benefit does it bring.
  2. Don't forget numbers and specifics. Use them to support and strengthen the text. Try to state data precisely and avoid words like "about" or "more than" - they raise doubts.
  3. Replace long phrases and words with shorter, more concise ones. Follow the rule: "one sentence - one idea".
  4. Every text needs a structure: a headline, subheadings, numbered and bulleted lists. Keep headings and list items roughly the same size so the content fits the interface design nicely.
  5. Check spelling with Grammarly.
  6. Get rid of unnecessary filler words - you will find plenty of them by running the text through text-improvement services.
  1. Unique texts with no duplicates in search engines matter for SEO. Check this with plagiarism-detection tools.
  2. Read the text aloud several times. Not stumbling? A readability-scoring service will tell you how the text really reads.

Images and videos

  1. Publish original images and videos - your own or purchased from dedicated stock resources.
  2. Images should be at least 900 pixels wide, free of artifacts (broken pixels) and watermarks. Video quality - at least 720p, and it should already be hosted on YouTube or available for upload there.
